Oriental Beauty Oolong Tea or Dongfang Meiren (东方美人) is a unique Taiwanese tea. By production, this tea reaches maximum oxidation among oolongs (approximately 70-80%). At the beginning of acquaintance with him, you might even think that this is black tea, but according to the production technologies Dongfang Meizhen refers to dark oolongs.
The most interesting and impressive fact is Oriental Beauty organically pure tea. Imagine Dongfang Meiren gathers exclusively in the summer and, the most important component, one might even say, the main producer of this tea is cicadas (Jacobiasca formosana - other names: small green leafhopper, tea green leafhopper, or tea jassid). A cicada is a green fly that feeds on the juice of tea leaves, which is why tea begins to oxidize even before the harvest because, during such an attack, the tea bush turns on self-defense: the leaves produce a lot of monoterpene diol and hotrienol. The cicada bites start the oxidation of the leaves and tips and add a sweet note to the oolong. Such features of the growth and preparation of tea give Oriental Beauty a unique fruity-honey aroma.
Fermented leaves and a lot of buds go into the production of Dongfang Meizhen tea, and cicadas are confirmation of the organic nature of the tea, since the vast majority of farmers now spray tea bushes with pesticides, scaring off cicadas.
We advise everyone to try a unique product created by cicadas and skilled tea farmers.
